How to Choose an SEO Agency in Mexico: 10 Questions Before You Hire
Written by the Dizayn team
How do you choose an SEO agency in Mexico?
Choose an SEO agency that shows you a case with real Google Search Console data, tells you in writing what it delivers each month, keeps the Google accounts in your name and doesn't guarantee first place. Before signing, ask it the 10 questions in this guide; vague answers are the clearest sign it's not a fit.
This guide is SEO-only. If you're choosing a general digital marketing agency, see how to choose a reliable digital marketing agency.
The 10 questions
1. Can you show me a case with Search Console data?
A serious SEO agency has at least one client with before-and-after numbers, with dates and the source. For example, in our Luvory case monthly Google impressions went from 1,431 to 12,542 between April and September 2026, according to Google Search Console. If the agency only shows screenshots from a third-party tool, ask why.
2. What exactly do you deliver each month?
The answer should be a list: how many new pages, which technical fixes, what authority work. "Ongoing optimization" isn't an answer.
3. What will you check first on my site?
First should come indexing (how many of your pages are really in Google), mobile speed and which competitor pages rank for your searches. If the agency starts talking keywords without looking at your site, the diagnosis is missing. This is how we do it: SEO audit.
4. Which searches will you target and why those?
A good agency picks searches with buying intent and explains the real volume, not just the ones that sound good. Sometimes the most obvious phrase has almost no searches.
5. How do you get links?
Ask where they come from. Buying links or using networks of sites built only to link goes against Google's spam policies and can sink your site. Healthy answers sound like real mentions: suppliers, clients, industry directories, local press.
6. Who owns the accounts?
Search Console, Google Business Profile, Analytics and the domain should be in your business's name. The agency gets user access. If the agency owns them, you lose your history when you cancel.
7. How and how often do you report?
The norm is a monthly report with rankings, impressions and clicks from your own Search Console, plus what was done. If the report doesn't say what work was done, it's an activity report, not a results report.
8. How much does it cost and what moves the price?
Ask for the range and what pushes it up or down. For reference, at Dizayn SEO costs $8,000 to $25,000 MXN per month; we break it down in how much SEO costs in Mexico.
9. When will I see results?
An honest answer: technical and local improvements show in 4 to 8 weeks and sustained growth takes 3 to 6 months. Be wary of anyone promising first place in 30 days.
10. What happens if I cancel?
Published pages, fixes and accounts stay with you. Also ask about the minimum contract term and whether there's a penalty for leaving.
Signs not to hire
- It guarantees first place on Google. Google's own guide to hiring an SEO warns against that.
- It won't give you access to your data or wants to own your accounts.
- It can't explain how it gets links.
- All its cases are from another industry or have no dates.
- The price is so low it can't cover new content every month.
What about AI search?
In 2026 some of your customers already ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI summaries instead of searching. Ask the agency whether its content work also helps those tools cite you. We explain it in SEO vs. GEO.

FAQ
- How do I know if an SEO agency is good?
- Ask for a case with numbers and dates from Google Search Console, a written monthly work plan and access to your own data. A serious agency shows you what it did and what moved; a bad one only shows charts from its tool.
- What should an SEO agency deliver every month?
- A concrete list: technical fixes made, new pages or articles published, authority work (links and mentions) and a report with rankings, impressions and clicks from your Search Console, along with what comes next month.
- Is it a bad sign if an agency guarantees first place on Google?
- Yes. Google's own guide to hiring an SEO warns against anyone who guarantees rankings. Nobody controls the algorithm; what can be guaranteed is measurable, transparent work.
- Who should own the Google accounts and the content?
- You. Search Console, Google Business Profile, Analytics, the domain and the published content should be in your business's name, with the agency as a user. If you cancel, everything stays with you.
- Should I pick a local SEO agency or one from another city?
- For local SEO it helps when the agency knows your city, its areas and your competitors. For national SEO the process matters more than the location. Either way, ask to see results for clients like you.
